My relatives in San Francisco are in the fish business. They clean fish, sell fish, and eat fish. They are fish people. But we are nervous about my brother Daryl, because he has shunned fish altogether and become a street beggar.
We're not sure why Daryl is a street beggar, but we wish he'd take example from my other brother (his twin brother) Daryl. Daryl sets a real example for all of us. He was a high school football star, is really good at math, graduated from Stanford with honors, and now helps my father run the fish business.
Daryl is very good at selling fish. He knows creative ways to sell. He once made a special offer: "buy two fish, get one free". It was a big hit. Everybody wants to be like Daryl. But his brother Daryl...that's another story.
One day, Daryl was hanging around Fisherman's Wharf down by the bay in San Francisco, begging for money not far from where the sea lions and seals gain so much attention from dazzling tourists.
Daryl was arrested for begging money from the Chief of Police (I don't think he knew it was the Chief of Police) so he could buy a bottle of gin. Daryl has always had bad luck. Some people just say he's stupid. In his defense, I think he's just easily distracted.
I, too, am shunned by my family. Mostly because I decided to not help my father clean and sell fish. I love to eat fish, but decided I would tire of them if I sold them all day.
Actually, I decided in about the 3rd grade that I wanted to write Internet books and test drive Porsches when I grew up. Although I really wanted to go to Stanford but wasn't accepted, I think I am the only person in the family who has truly made his dreams come true.
